The Light of Grace Shines Down Into Your Hearts
This is my first writing. I have noticed a few things here and there on the site about Native Ceremony. I am blood Tsalagi Cherokee but my ways are Northern Cheyenne. My half side (my female partner, she is the other half of me) and I walk the path. She is a spiritual leader and gifted in many ways and I am gifted in the ways of herbs and plants we both are gifted in many ways of the spirit. We both have spent years learning the path from our elders and medicine people. My Great Grand Mother White Cloud was a Tsaligi Medicine elder both in herbs and spirit. As was my Grandmother and Grand father. My Half Side was also raised in the ways of the people. My half side is a pipe carrier I am also. This is an honor and a great task. I am also Scottish as is my half side.
Now that the background has been laid I will get on with it.
Ceremony is SACRED no matter how you see it. And it has a way that it is done. The rules are not carved in stone but the rites are and must be done in a good way as taught by the elders. There is no class to learn to be native, giving oneself a name that sounds Native is not the real thing. To charge for ceremony is a disgrace for it is a service given through Creator. No true medicine person will Say they are a Medicine Man or Woman even if they are. We do not brag about the gift that is creators given freely to the people. We are in service to the people and our lives are simple and the path is one that is walked with humble ways and simple things.
If someone does a ceremony and does not know the right ways it can bring great harm to the people. This is the reason for years of training. To know the ways is the right way to do things what I mean by this is knowing what you are doing being cautious of the words you use and the herbs and such that are used in these. The pipe is not called a "Peace Pipe". We the people are NATIVE AMERICANS. Our ceremonies are free for those that have the right heart and spirit and have taken the time to learn what they are. Here are the basic sacred herbs. Sage not cooking type, Sweetgrass, Tobacco, and Cedar.
These 4 herbs are the basics these MUST be gathered in the right way and right heart. They are the basic things used in all ceremonies. All Ceremonies start with the sweat lodge. The reason for this is to clear and purify the body and spirit and to make the connection to the creator.
This is just the very basic things I will post more about the ceremonies if anyone wants to learn more.
I am not and I repeat this I AM NOT A MEDICINE MAN. I just happen to know a few of the ways of the people.
